Welcome to MindMatters Hypnotherapy
Helping people who suffer with stress and anxiety to regain control of their lives
Maybe you are one of the many people who suffer with anxiety? Perhaps you suffer with panic attacks, heart palpitations, tight chest, or nausea. You may feel frequently on edge, easily startled, irritable or tired.
Maybe this has had a knock on effect on your self-esteem and confidence. Or maybe you suffer with phobias, or feel overwhelmed by simple tasks. All of these are common symptoms of anxiety. And for some people, this has a huge impact on their lives, getting in the way of work, relationships or socialising.
We understand it can be daunting to approach a therapist to ask for help. We will do everything we can to put you at your ease and ensure you feel comfortable and safe. Working with our fully qualified and experienced therapist, you will gain confidence, increase your self esteem and feel more in control.
MindMatters will help you to cope with almost anything life throws at you, better than you could before, in a calmer, more relaxed, more positive way.
How do we work?
We use a combination of counselling, mindfulness and hypnotherapy to give you effective coping strategies to manage your anxiety and to change the way you react to stressful or anxiety-provoking situations. We work with you to formulate an individual treatment plan suited to your needs.
We offer in-person therapy at our comfortable Finchley Central location.
And in order to make therapy as accessible and convenient as possible, all our hypnotherapy sessions can be held online via zoom. This enables you to have therapy from the comfort of their own home. Online sessions work very well and are just as effective as a face-to-face session.
Because we appreciate how busy you are, we offer evening appointments to fit around your work or family commitments.
What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a completely safe form of therapy that uses relaxation, focussed concentration and heightened attention. A hypnotic trance is a completely natural state of being, that most people slip in and out of several times a day. Daydreaming, becoming absorbed in a good book or film, or being engrossed in a video game are all examples of hypnotic trances.
Research has shown that when we are in a hypnotic trance, the rational part of our brain quietens down, and the subconscious is much more open to suggestions and ideas.
In a therapy session, your hypnotherapist will gently guide you into this lovely relaxed state, allowing your subconscious to accept beneficial changes and ideas so that you can make the improvements to your life that you want.
Because hypnosis allows us to be more open to creative suggestions, we have the freedom to alter habits, emotions, and behaviours that may have been holding us back. This enables us to develop a more productive and healthier lifestyle.
And contrary to what the movies tell us, you are in control throughout the whole process! No one can be hypnotised against their will, or be made to do anything they don’t want to.
Everyone experiences hypnosis differently. Some people feel rested and comfortable and hear every word the therapist says. Other people drift off into their own world and hear nothing; while others slip in and out of awareness. There is no right or wrong way.
